Gas safety specialist WITT offers a wide range of special safety devices in stainless steel and brass for processes where propylene is supplied. Using this safety equipment in gas supply is designed to reduce the risk to a minimum because the use of combustible gases such as propylene is always associated with possible hazards.

Propylene gas is highly flammable, odourless and tasteless, and its use requires safety equipment to protect against accidents. The safety devices WITT has launched on the market for this purpose offer triple protection: they instantly extinguish a flashback by way of a sintered chrome-nickel and steel filter, they block a burn-back using a temperature sensitive cut-off valve and also a non-return valve prevents formation of explosive mixes in the gas supply with the integrated gas. These safety devices are available either in stainless steel or brass, and they comply with DIN EN 730-1 / ISO 5175.

Apart from production of the thermoplastic polypropylene and in the textile industry of acrylic fibres, propylene is becoming more widely used in the metalwork industry for welding and cutting.
