In contrast to pre-mixed gas mixtures from the bottle, locally mixed gases offer considerably greater flexibility. If production plans are modified, it is only necessary to re-adjust the gas mixer before starting production. This is a blessing for storage logistics, because this usually means it is only necessary to keep two separate gases in stock. This also reduces purchasing costs, because mixtures are nearly always more expensive. Experts therefore recommend conversion to single gases with gas mixers. Gas mixtures matched precisely to the process are absolutely necessary for manufacturers of high quality products. It is not possible to achieve optimum results with premixed gas, whose proportions are matched only approximately to the process.
Gas mixers are available as mechanical or electronic units for different types of gases, performance ranges and applications. The gas mixtures, which can be produced, are either variable or permanently set. Comprehensive electronic sensor circuitry is available for monitoring and control. Gas mixers are also available with integrated analysers for quality assurance. The smallest types of gas mixer are transportable units for direct connection to single gas bottles. Their operation is extremely easy: Every required mixing ratio can be set precisely on control knobs or percent scales.
Gas mixers provide even greater advantages when the quantity of gas increases, making it more economical to use liquefied gas from tanks than bottled gas. They compensate for pressure variations in the line and adapt the outlet pressure to the production requirements. Electronic change-over of the mixture (via remote control) is even possible with many units. A further positive point is that they can also measure the consumption very accurately for further calculations.
