Most Powerful 3-Inch Dome Pressure Regulator

17.06.2014

German gas technology specialist WITT is proud to unveil one of the most powerful dome pressure regulators ever in the form of the 767LE/S. Also new: the manufacturer has provided detailed information on the technology and application of dome pressure regulators at www.domepressureregulators.com.

The new dome pressure regulator 767LE/S is based on the proven 757LE/S, but provides a 3-inch connection for a DN80/100 flange. WITT has increased the flow rate threefold to a maximum of 17,000 Nm3/h (Kv value 30). And thanks to tremendous flow performance, the device also enables precise control within the limit range.

In contrast to other providers, WITT has opted for high-precision swivels, instead of brass casting. This ensures maximum safety and reliability, according to WITT. Although other manufacturers may have regulators made from machined parts in their portfolio, these will not be in the same performance range for all common gases, including oxygen, or in the same price segment. The 767LE/S is tested and available ready for installation in the proven set with pilot control pressure regulator, pressure gauges and fittings.

Precision as design principle
A further unique feature is demonstrated by the high backpressure constancy, even at high withdrawal fluctuations. The 767LE/S provides an outlet pressure of 0.5 to 30 bar (7.25 to 435 psi) and is designed for inlet pressures up to 40 bar / 580 psi, depending on the gas type. It is a closed system: the pressure is regulated via the line gas (process medium), with no gas flowing out. Alternatively, of course, operation with separate control gas is possible.

The set working pressure can be adjusted as required by the user, e.g. for process changes. Multiple gas supplies can also be brought centrally to a common working pressure, which can be controlled remotely via the pilot control pressure regulator or even a proportional valve. The 767LE/S has compact dimensions of 426x197x300 mm / 17x8x12 inches (LxWxH) and weighs 45 kg / 99 lb.

Process reliability as a target
Dome pressure regulators keep the gas pressure in the downstream working process constant, regardless of pressure fluctuations in the gas supply. The fittings are, therefore, an indispensable element in the quality assurance of numerous production processes. The design forms the basis for precise and rapidly responding regulators – in contrast to the spring-loaded mechanisms of alternative models with the further drawback of less pressure range.

Experts also regard the special design as key to the performance of WITT’s regulators. Unlike other manufacturers, WITT does not reduce the existing working pressure in the valve seat, but instead at the output of the pressure regulator. In other words, this is done precisely at the point relevant for a correct working pressure regulation. The valve is also balanced by the backpressure on the same area from both sides so that the primary pressure does not exert any force on the valve piston. In addition, the diaphragm is not located directly on the valve seat, but instead transfers its stroke via a diaphragm plate. This means WITT can achieve a rapid response to changes in consumption. There are none of the normally frequent fluctuations in the operating pressure until the regulator finds the correct valve opening.

Both the smallest pressure differences below 1 bar / 14.5 psi, as well as very large differences, are regulated precisely. That means a two-stage pressure regulation is not necessary in many cases.
