Safety has the highest priority when operating with acetylene. In accordance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14114, an automatic quick-acting shut-off device must be installed immediately upstream of the main pressure reducer in high-pressure lines with two or more cylinders connected simultaneously. With the HDS17, operators fulfil exactly these requirements and reliably protect their employees and systems against acetylene decomposition.
Precise protection in milliseconds
Acetylene is highly flammable and capable of explosive decomposition - even without oxygen or at low pressure. Acetylene decomposition is an extremely dangerous chemical reaction. The resulting pressure wave travels at supersonic speed and can overcome conventional safety devices. The HDS17 was specially developed to react immediately in such an emergency situation. A pressure-controlled closing piston interrupts the gas flow, stops the decomposition and thus effectively protects downstream systems and people and prevents a catastrophe.
Highest quality for maximum reliability
As proof of the highest quality and reliability, the WITT HDS17 is certified by the IBExU Institute for Safety Technology (test certificate number 2411). Regular tests ensure maximum operational safety. Each individual device is built and tested in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15615, and the simple, position-independent installation makes it flexible to use. The robust design made of galvanised steel ensures a long service life.
