Gas mixer series KM- and MG-ME

for a variety of industrial applications, particularly those with highly fluctuating mixed gas withdrawals

"ME" gas mixers - general characteristics

The mechanical gas mixers of the WITT KM- and MG-ME series are the very popular and proven classics of gas mixing technology. WITT offers a broad variety of different products this range:

The gas mixers family beginning with "KM" serves small to medium flow rates whereas the gas mixers family beginning with "MG" is for medium to very large flows. The numbers behind the family name (here: 20, 30, 50, 60, 100, 200) from low to high give an indication of the level of flows.

The abbreviation "-ME" means that these models all contain a combination of electronic pressure switch and pressure transmitter solenoid valve - an extremely reliable method of controlling gas, especially for discontinuous withdrawal. The appendix "-2"ME means for two gases, "-3"ME is for three gases.

Features of all "ME" models

  • Very reliable mixing technology for a stable gas supply also with strongly fluctuating mixed gas extraction and inlet pressures
  • Inlet pressure 4-20 bar
  • For 2 (-2ME) or 3 gases (-3ME)
  • Infinitely variable mixture and flow settings
  • Also available as EX version with external control unit
  • Works with sufficient buffer volume
  • Min. receiver pressure appr. 1.5 to 9.5/10.5 or 18.5 bar
  • Integrated gas analysis (option)
  • Integrated inlet pressure monitoring (option)

Operating principle of the mechanical mixing technology

Mixtures can be reliably created from almost any gas using this method - and with precision and long-term stability. A proportional mixing valve is usually used for 2-gas mixtures. The valve has 2 gas inputs and one output for the mixed gas. By turning the valve, the flow rates of the individual gases are proportionally regulated in an interaction of orifice plates and pistons, thus producing the gas mixture required in each case.

If mixtures of 3 or more gases are required, individual mixing valves are used instead of proportional valves. The flow rate of the individual gases is determined separately with a mechanical individual mixing valve. The mixture is therefore composed of separately metered individual gases. A constant inlet pressure of the individual gases is decisive for the perfect functioning of the gas mixers.

Benefits of the KM- / MG-ME series

To avoid pressure fluctuations, good gas mixers have a constant pressure control. Depending on the application, gas mixers with a mechanical mixing valve are suitable for continuous extraction or, with a gas container, also for discontinuous extraction. They are extremely robust and require only minimal maintenance. Mixing systems can often also be expanded, e.g. with gas analysis modules or inlet pressure monitoring with alarm functions.
